Who goes bump in the night

Everyone has heard them, at least once; those unexplained sounds somewhere out there in the dark. Rustles, bangs, howls. They probably have a logical explanation but sometimes the imagination easily takes over..
In the installation “Who goes bump in the night” Ella explores and exposes the supernatural beings that she believes could be hiding behind the sounds. The exhibition invites you to a world filled with shadows and mysteries, but with a playful twist where her crocheted works give a new dimension to these mythical creatures where the comic surpasses the realism and creates a charming atmosphere.
Ella Shipway (b. 1995) is a British artist who lives and works in Gothenburg. She holds an MFA from Umeå Art School. Ella’s artistic work includes paintings, textiles and video as well as larger installations; often with strong references to popular culture in general and 80s/90s action films in an aesthetic reminiscent of the video games of that time.
